This session will explore sustainable mobility solutions, focusing on waterborne logistics and the efficient management of flows within port cities. Speakers will share innovative projects that reduce congestion, lower emissions, and improve urban–port connectivity.

Giovanni BOTTINI

Giovanni Massimo Bottini has been Partner of Systematica since 2009. Two years later, in 2011, he joined the board of directors, and in 2014 he became Vice President and CEO. Since 2015, he has been Systematica’s President, CEO and Partner.

Giovanni Massimo Bottini is a fully licensed architect, born in 1959, and with a solid experience in design, management and consulting. Founder and owner of GMB Design, architecture studio since 1988, he is specialized in architectural design, space planning and project management, with all inter-professional implications.

Alessandro Vacca is Partner, Senior Director and Head of Mobility Engineering at Systematica, where he leads and contributes to an extensive range of projects focused on innovative and sustainable transportation solutions. With a robust background in Transport Planning, Traffic Engineering, and Urban Design, Alessandro has established himself as a versatile and results-driven professional in the field.

 

Gaëlle SCHAUNER

An architect, urban planner, and graduate in transportation engineering (ENPC master's degree), Gaëlle has held management positions in local government, leading urban planning and economic development projects that integrate innovation, mobility, ecological transition, and territorial resilience. She has also headed departments at Voies navigables de France and Cerema, leading pioneering initiatives in sustainable logistics, climate change adaptation (coastal and river) and land development. Her work has contributed to national strategic thinking. She is currently Deputy Director General of the Port of Strasbourg and Director of the Strategy, Transition and Major Projects Department.

 

Martin KREKELER

EU funding officer and project coordinator
FREIE UND HANSESTADT HAMBURG

An urban planner by education, Martin Krekeler is working as EU programmes officer at the Senate Chancellery of the Free and Hanseatic City of Hamburg (Germany), which is the central advisory body to Hamburg’s mayor and government. His task is to connect public administration, science, and civil society through EU-funded projects. He has co-developed and coordinated transnational innovation projects with a focus on climate adaptation, social inclusivity, and fostering of active mobility. Currently, Martin is involved in the city’s efforts to decarbonise last mile logistics.
