Ariane is the Knowledge Manager for Ports & Shipping at C40 Cities, a network of mayors of nearly 100 world-leading cities collaborating to deliver the urgent action needed right now to confront the climate crisis. She fosters climate action in the maritime sector by enabling collaboration amongst more than 40 cities and ports. Ariane leads the Green Ports Forum's knowledge strategy and coordinates C40's work on green jobs in the shipping sector by drawing on her previous work on inclusive climate action and just transition. Her work also informs C40’s technical assistance and capacity-building programmes, particularly for ports and cities in the Global South.
Geographer and strategic advisor at Pesca since 2022, Jérôme Landry specializes in promoting and optimizing the economic and environmental benefits of the energy transition. A strong advocate for sustainable initiatives in the maritime and municipal sectors, he coordinated and authored Quebec’s first decarbonization plan for maritime transport. For the past two years, Mr. Landry has been working on the establishment of regional energy ecosystems in northern New Brunswick and on the Côte-Nord, in collaboration with municipalities, industries, and port authorities. He served as municipal councillor for Matane from 2001 to 2009 and later as mayor from 2013 to 2021. During that time, he actively supported the development of the wind energy sector in eastern Quebec, including the establishment of three component manufacturers in Matane. In his last term, he developed a maritime strategy for the City of Matane that contributed to the transfer of Matane’s port from the Canadian government to the Government of Quebec. He also held several key roles within the Union des municipalités du Québec, including board member, member of the climate change committee, and first chair of the maritime committee from 2016 to 2021. He also led a study on the social and environmental costs of truck freight transport in Quebec. In addition, he served on the board of SODES and on the Maritime Transport Consultation Forum.
Tim is a city and transport planner with over 20 years of experience working on public and private sector projects in the UK, Europe and Africa. This has included managing work packages in the EU PORTIS and PIONEERS projects, with a focus on innovation and technology transfer amongst port authorities and cities. In the case of PIONEERS, this has involved assessing the transfer potential of green energy, circular economy, and digitalisation demonstrations amongst the ports of Antwerp-Bruges, Barcelona, Constanta and Venlo. Additionally, Tim has coordinated planning consents, EIA and stakeholder engagement processes for major transport, energy, and water infrastructure projects.
